List of Possible 7-Card Hands from Least to Most Powerful:
Fun Variant:
If you play role playing games like D&D, Pathfinder, etc. try occasionally resolving a scenario with a hand of Wizard’s Poker instead of a die roll. For example, you traditionally would roll a die to determine if you received something of value from one of the characters you meet in the game. Instead of the roll of a die, challenge a character to a game of Wizard’s poker to resolve the scenario. The Dungeon Master can play the role of the character you are challenging, and the winner of the poker hand is the winner of the challenge!
- Dealer shuffles the cards and deals seven cards to each wizard (i.e. player).
- Wizards evaluate their 7 cards to create the most powerful hand possible out of all 7 cards. Then they bet regarding if they have the best hand (betting is optional). The possible hands are listed below from least to most powerful.
- Each wizard can then trade in up to five cards for the same number of cards from the top of the deck.
- Wizards evaluate their hands again based on the new cards the received in step 3. They then try to create the most powerful 7-card hand.
- Wizards partake in another round of betting (optional).
- The best (i.e. most powerful) hand wins. If betting occurred, the Wizard with the most powerful hand collects the winnings .
- Repeat for as many hands as you like.
